If you usually find section 4 of the IELTS Listening test difficult, then read on.
I’ve just listened to an audio recording that an IELTS candidate told me about, and I think it could help you improve your listening skills for section 4 of the listening test. It’s called ‘Lectures‘ and is part of the ‘Academic listening’ series on the BBC Learning English website; you can listen to it by clicking on the ‘lectures’ link below.
It’s not specifically about IELTS, but a lot of what it talks about is relevant to listening to the academic talk in section 4.
It talks about problems that non-native speakers can have when they listen to a lecture (e.g. the speaker’s accent or speaking speed), and it talks about how the lecturer may use intonation and marker phrases (i.e. signposting) to help people follow the talk.
