Hi
In the IELTS listening test, the recordings include a range of native-speaker English accents, e.g. British, American, Australian, Kiwi and Canadian.
To help you become more familiar with these different accents, I’d like to introduce you to a great website with a huge choice of audio recordings of speakers from many different countries.
It’s called ‘elllo’, which stands for English Listening Lesson Library Online.
What’s great about this website is that it tells you where the speakers are from, the recordings are very natural (i.e. not scripted), and there are transcripts of the conversations too.
Check out the ‘Views’ section for a collection of conversations on common IELTS topics such as food, sport or environmental issues. The little flags below the speakers’ names tell you where they are from.
For IELTS preparation, it would be better to focus on the conversations between native speakers and to hide the transcript the first time you listen to a recording.
Check it out.
Pete
